Schema Magazine kicked off the summer by throwing a party for our friends and supporters at the fabulous 221A Gallery in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown.

Highlights of the evening included a performance by the oh-so-funny sketch comedy group Assaulted Fish (in celebration of their ten years in the biz) and founder of Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Mo Dhaliwal receiving a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal from Vancouver city councillor Heather Deal.

And there was also Hawaiian-inspired musubis, lots of wine, sparklers, chocolate cake, and a great soundtrack that kept people hanging around until the very end of the night. In the spirit of Asian Heritage Month, it was a bringing together of staff and volunteers from the many organisations in Vancouver that “do Asian Heritage” all year long, including the fine people at the Asian Canadian Journalists Association (ACJA); Bing Thom Architects; C3 Korean Canadian Society; the Museum of Vancouver; the Vancouver Chapter of North American Association of Asian Professionals (NAAAP); Powell Street Festival Society; Southeast Asian Cultural Heritage Society (SEACHS); Tulayan; and many more.

Thanks to everyone who helped to spread the word and especially for those who came out!
Thank you for making Vancouver such an ethnic cool city!
